About Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education

Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) was established in October, 1979 to help meet the need for qualified teachers in Lagos State. The college is located in Otto-Ijanikin, a suburb of Lagos State.

AOCOED began operations on January 15, 1980 with 239 students and 10 academic staff. The pioneer Provost of the college was Chief E.A. Adebanjo. The college started with programs in Science, Arts and Social Sciences. Home Economics and Agricultural Science were introduced in 1981/82 and 1982/83 academic sessions respectively.

Over the years, AOCOED has grown tremendously in all ramifications. New schools and departments have been established. There are currently over 15,000 students and 800 members of staff in the college. AOCOED is reputed for excellence in teacher education and has produced many distinguished teachers.

AOCOED aims at producing teachers with skills and competencies required for effective teaching and learning in schools. The college offers Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programs. Students go through rigorous training to prepare them for the teaching profession.
