Awori District COE Admission Requirements

There are some things you need to do in order to get into Awori District COE Knowing these ahead of time will help you make sure your application is complete and raise your chances of being accepted.

Minimum Requirements for Admission

In order to be admitted, you must:

  • Have at least five credits in related subjects, such as English Language, Mathematics, one Science subject, and two other subjects. You can get these credits in one sitting or over two sittings, but not more than five credits in a row.
  • You have to be at least 16 years old to apply.
    Must have at least five years of education after elementary school.
  • For Direct Entry candidates, you must have at least one upper credit in the appropriate ND program.
  • Must get at least the minimum score on the UTME to get into the college. The cut-off mark changes every year based on how much competition there is.
  • Must have made their first choice when they signed up for JAMB.

Steps for Applying

If you want to get Admission you need to do the following:

  • You can either buy the college’s application form from the admissions office or get it from the website. Carefully read and fill out the form.
  • Attach printouts of your IDs, such as your birth certificate, WAEC or NECO results, proof of where you live, etc., to the form you’ve filled out
  • Before the due date, bring the completed admission form along with the necessary papers to the admissions office. Applications that are too late will not be looked at.
  • Check the website or notice board of the admissions office or the admissions list to see if you were given provisional admission.
  • You have until the due date to accept the offer of entry on the college’s website or in person at the admissions office. If you do not accept by the limit, you will lose your chance to be admitted.
  • When school starts up again, go to the college for screening and registration. Bring the original copies of the papers that are attached to your admission form so that they can be checked.
  • Being able to go is possible if you carefully follow these entrance rules.

Hostel Accommodation

Rooms and Facilities

Awori District COE hostels provide single and double rooms to accommodate up to 800 students. Rooms are furnished with beds, mattresses, tables and chairs for a comfortable living environment. Shared bathrooms and toilets are located on each floor. The hostels also offer common rooms for students to study and socialise. A dining hall is available for students to have their meals.


The hostels provide three meals a day for students. A variety of balanced and nutritious meals are served to meet students’ dietary needs. The weekly menu includes Ugandan cuisine as well as international fare. For students with special dietary requirements, the hostels will make reasonable accommodations to cater to their needs. Students are welcome to provide feedback and suggestions on the meals to ensure high satisfaction.

Laundry Services

The hostels offer affordable laundry services for students. Students can drop off their laundry at the designated times and collect them once washed and ironed. The laundry staff take great care to properly wash and handle students’ clothing. Should any issues arise, students are advised to inform the hostel administration immediately.

Safety and Security

The safety and security of students are top priorities for the hostels. There are security guards stationed at the entrances and exits of the hostels. Curfew hours are implemented to ensure students return to their rooms on time. Fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarms and emergency lighting are installed and regularly maintained. Evacuation drills are conducted to familiarise students with emergency procedures. Students should take responsibility to safeguard their personal belongings and report any suspicious activities to the hostel administration or security guards.

What is the admission criteria for Awori District COE?

To be admitted into any of the programmes offered at Awori District COE, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

•KCSE mean grade of C plain and above. •KCSE grade C plain and above in the subjects relevant to the course of study. •For postgraduate programmes, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to sit for an aptitude test and oral interview. The COE strictly adheres to the Commission for University Education (CUE) guidelines on admission of students.

How much are the tuition fees at Awori District COE?

Tuition fees vary from one programme to another at Awori District COE. On average, tuition fees range between Ksh. 50,000 to Ksh. 150,000 per semester for undergraduate programmes and Ksh. 70,000 to Ksh. 200,000 per semester for postgraduate programmes.

The fees are payable in two instalments at the beginning of each semester. The COE offers various scholarships, bursaries and student loan opportunities to needy students in a bid to make tertiary education accessible to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
