Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu has been providing higher education to students since 1977. Over the decades, it has grown into a highly respected institution of learning in Nigeria with over 60,000 alumni worldwide.

Originally founded as Ikorodu Community Grammar School in 1950, it became a polytechnic in 1977 and was taken over by the Lagos State Government in 1985.

The school has undergone several name changes over the years to reflect its expanding range of programs and status, finally becoming Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu in 2013.
