There are some things you need to do in order to get into The College of Education Ilemona Knowing these ahead of time will help you make sure your application is complete and raise your chances of being accepted.

Minimum Requirements for Admission

In order to be admitted, you must:

  • Have at least five credits in related subjects, such as English Language, Mathematics, one Science subject, and two other subjects. You can get these credits in one sitting or over two sittings, but not more than five credits in a row.
  • You have to be at least 16 years old to apply.
    Must have at least five years of education after elementary school.
  • For Direct Entry candidates, you must have at least one upper credit in the appropriate ND program.
  • Must get at least the minimum score on the UTME to get into the college. The cut-off mark changes every year based on how much competition there is.
  • Must have made their first choice when they signed up for JAMB.

Steps for Applying

If you want to get Admission you need to do the following:

  • You can either buy the college’s application form from the admissions office or get it from the website. Carefully read and fill out the form.
  • Attach printouts of your IDs, such as your birth certificate, WAEC or NECO results, proof of where you live, etc., to the form you’ve filled out
  • Before the due date, bring the completed admission form along with the necessary papers to the admissions office. Applications that are too late will not be looked at.
  • Check the website or notice board of the admissions office or the admissions list to see if you were given provisional admission.
  • You have until the due date to accept the offer of entry on the college’s website or in person at the admissions office. If you do not accept by the limit, you will lose your chance to be admitted.
  • When school starts up again, go to the college for screening and registration. Bring the original copies of the papers that are attached to your admission form so that they can be checked.
  • Being able to go is possible if you carefully follow these entrance rules.

Hostel Accommodation

Location and Amenities

The hostels are located within the college premises for the convenience of students. There are separate hostels for male and female students with amenities including study rooms, TV rooms, dining halls, and recreational spaces. The hostels have round-the-clock security and cleaning services.

Room Options

Students can choose from single, double or triple occupancy rooms based on their budget and personal preferences. The rooms are equipped with beds, mattresses, pillows, blankets, cupboards and study tables. Students are allowed to bring their own curtains, bed sheets, pillow covers, buckets and other useful items to make their stay comfortable.


The hostels provide three meals a day for students which include breakfast, lunch and dinner. The meals are prepared by experienced cooks and kitchen staff. The weekly menu incorporates a balanced diet with options for vegetarian and non-vegetarian students. Special meals can also be arranged based on students’ medical or religious needs with prior notice to the hostel administration.

Fees and Payments

Hostel fees cover the cost of accommodation, meals, utilities and maintenance services. The fees are very affordable and payable at the beginning of each semester. Students can pay the fees online or at the college accounts office. Partial or full fee waivers and scholarships are available for deserving students from low-income families. Students should contact the college admission office to apply for financial assistance and scholarships.

What programs are offered at the College of Education Ilemona?

The College of Education Ilemona offers several undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields related to education. Our undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education and Special Needs Education. We also offer postgraduate programs such as Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Master of Education (M.Ed) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Curriculum Studies, Educational Administration and Planning, Guidance and Counselling, Measurement and Evaluation, and Special Education.

What is the admission requirement for undergraduate programs?

To be admitted into any of our undergraduate programs, you must have at least five credits in relevant subjects at O-level or its equivalent in addition to the basic entry requirement of five O-level credits including English Language and Mathematics. You will also need to sit for the Post-UTME screening test for the year of entry and obtain the prescribed cut-off mark.

Is accommodation available for students?

The College of Education Ilemona has limited accommodation for students in its halls of residence. However, due to the limited spaces available, accommodation cannot be guaranteed for all students. Priority is given to first-year students who reside outside the state or country. Students are advised to seek alternative accommodation from private residences within the campus or nearby communities if they are unable to secure accommodation in the halls of residence.

What facilities are available for learning and recreation?

The College of Education Ilemona has well-equipped facilities to support teaching, learning and student life. Some of the facilities include lecture theaters, classrooms, libraries, science laboratories, computer laboratories, cafeteria, health center, counselling center, football pitch, basketball and volleyball courts, etc. These facilities provide a conducive environment for both learning and recreation for our students and staff.

How much are the tuition and accommodation fees?

The tuition and accommodation fees vary for different programs. For the 2020/2021 academic session, tuition fees range from N150,000 to N250,000 per session for undergraduate programs. Accommodation fees in the halls of residence are N30,000 per session. Fees are subject to review annually. Students are advised to confirm the exact fees for their program of choice at the time of admission.
