About The School

Imo State University is a public university located in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, Nigeria. It was established in 1981 as Imo State University of Agriculture and Technology (IMSUAT) with a mandate to provide training and research in the fields of agriculture and technology. In 1992, the university was renamed Imo State University (IMSU) with an expanded scope to offer education in a wider range of disciplines.

  • Faculty of Humanities: N89,500

Imo State University Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings in either WAEC, NECO or NABTEB.
  • Candidates must have sat for the UTME and obtained a score of at least 160.
  • Applicants must choose Imo State University as their primary institution.

Direct Entry Requirements for Admission into IMSU:

  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings in either WAEC, NECO or NABTEB.
  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 9 points in their A-Level or equivalent examination.
  • Candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit or a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit from a recognized institution.

Imo State University Hostel Accommodation

IMSU has hostel accommodation for students, and the allocation of beds is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are advised to apply for accommodation early enough as the hostel spaces are limited.

The university has a male hostel and a female hostel. The hostel fees vary depending on the type of room and the facilities provided. Students can apply for hostel accommodation during the registration process.

The hostel fee is between N23,000 to N33,000 per student.
