About African Church College of Education

The African Church College of Education (ACCE) was founded in 1948 by the African Church as a teacher training institution. Its goal was to train teachers for the rapidly expanding educational activities of the Church.

ACCE started with 25 male students at its temporary site in Lagos. In 1955, the college moved to its permanent campus in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Minimum Requirements for Admission

In order to be admitted, you must:

  • Have at least five credits in related subjects, such as English Language, Mathematics, one Science subject, and two other subjects. You can get these credits in one sitting or over two sittings, but not more than five credits in a row.
  • You have to be at least 16 years old to apply.
    Must have at least five years of education after elementary school.
  • For Direct Entry candidates, you must have at least one upper credit in the appropriate ND program.
  • Must get at least the minimum score on the UTME to get into the college. The cut-off mark changes every year based on how much competition there is.
  • Must have made their first choice when they signed up for JAMB.

Steps for Applying

If you want to get Admission you need to do the following:

  • You can either buy the college’s application form from the admissions office or get it from the website. Carefully read and fill out the form.
  • Attach printouts of your IDs, such as your birth certificate, WAEC or NECO results, proof of where you live, etc., to the form you’ve filled out
  • Before the due date, bring the completed admission form along with the necessary papers to the admissions office. Applications that are too late will not be looked at.
  • Check the website or notice board of the admissions office or the admissions list to see if you were given provisional admission.
  • You have until the due date to accept the offer of entry on the college’s website or in person at the admissions office. If you do not accept by the limit, you will lose your chance to be admitted.
  • When school starts up again, go to the college for screening and registration. Bring the original copies of the papers that are attached to your admission form so that they can be checked.
  • Being able to go is possible if you carefully follow these entrance rules.

Hostel Accommodation

The African Church College of Education offers hostel accommodation within the college campus for students and staff. The hostels have adequate facilities to make your stay comfortable during your course of study.


The hostels have single, double and triple rooms. The rooms are furnished with beds, mattresses, cupboards, tables, chairs and fans. There are shared bathrooms and toilets on each floor of the hostels with running water.


Three meals are provided daily in the college dining hall. The meals include breakfast, lunch and supper with a variety of nutritious local and international cuisines. The dining hall operates on a self-service basis.


The hostels have adequate security with guards manning the gates and patroling the compound day and night. There are also security lights installed around the hostels. For your safety, do not leave valuables lying around unattended. All students and staff staying in the hostels must be in their rooms by 10.00 pm.


There are various recreational facilities within the college for students and staff staying in the hostels. These include a football pitch, volleyball and basketball courts, a gymnasium as well as a college library open until late evening. The college also organises extra-curricular activities and social events from time to time.

Staying in the college hostels allows you to fully experience campus life and bond with fellow students and staff. However, you must abide by the hostel regulations to ensure a conducive environment for all. Make the most of your time on campus and enjoy your stay!


What programs does the college offer?

The African Church College of Education offers undergraduate programs in three main areas: Bachelor of Education in Primary Education, Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education, and Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education. Students can choose to major in Science, Mathematics, Languages, and Social Studies in the Bachelor of Education in Primary Education program.

The college has several facilities to support students’ learning and recreation. There are three lecture halls with a seating capacity of 200 students each. The library contains over 50,000 books and subscribes to many online databases. Sports facilities include a football field, volleyball and basketball courts. What is the admission requirement?

To be admitted into a degree program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 or its equivalent
  • Obtained credits in 3 compulsory subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science)
  • Pass an entrance examination and interview
  • Have a Senior High School diploma
  • For international applicants, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or its equivalent is required
