About The University 

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal government-owned university In Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. It was founded in 1961 and was originally named the University of Ife until 1987 when it was renamed after the late Nigerian statesman and former premier of the Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

OAU Admission Requirements 

The admission requirements for OAU vary depending on the course of study and the level of the degree program. However, there are some general requirements that apply to all applicants.

  • UTME Requirements: Prospective students who wish to apply to OAU must have sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and scored a minimum of 200 marks. Candidates must have also chosen OAU as their first choice of institution.
  • O’Level Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of five credit passes in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two sittings in WASSCE, NECO or GCE. Some courses also have specific O’level subject requirements.
  • Post-UTME Screening: All applicants are required to participate in the OAU Post-UTME screening exercise. The screening is usually computer-based and is designed to assess candidates’ suitability for the chosen course of study. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 50% to be considered for admission.
  • Direct Entry Requirements: Prospective students who wish to apply for direct entry into OAU must have completed a relevant diploma or degree program from a recognized institution. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of five O’Level credit passes, including Mathematics and English Language.

Undergraduate Hostels:
