The Sokoto State University was established in May of 2009, but it wasn’t until October 2013 that academic activities got underway with 800 pioneer students spread across three faculties: education, social sciences, and science.

Sokoto State University Admission Requirement
The admission process into the university is competitive and based on merit. Here are the general admission requirements for the University of Abuja:
Undergraduate Admissions:
- All prospective candidates must be at least 16 years old.
- A minimum of six (6) “Cs (Credits)” on the candidate’s O-Level result(s) is required. Include English, Math, and three more disciplines directly connected to their major.
- A candidate who is interested in pursuing a career in law, for instance, is expected to have earned a grade of “C” or higher in English, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics, and English Literature.
- A JAMB UTME score of 160 or higher is required.
- Candidates are expected to take the SSU post UTME screening exam and do exceptionally well (subject to major).
- Applicants to Sokoto State University (SSU) are only allowed one set of exam results. Students are responsible for making educated course selections.
- Candidates’ cumulative GPAs must also be above the course-specific minimum requirement for admission.
- The minimum required O-level credit score for a candidate is five (5). Math and the English language are required. However, the same effect cannot be achieved in two sittings.
- It is mandatory for applicants to obtain JAMB. JAMB’s application form can be used directly.
- Any one of the following credentials is required of candidates: Degrees such as BSc, HND, OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A-level, and ICAN
Postgraduates Admission
- Candidates for admission into Ph.D. programs must hold a Masters degree in a relevant field and a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.0 on a 5.0 scale.
- Candidates must have at least a Second Class Lower degree in the pertinent fields to be admitted to master’s degree programs. Any accredited university’s postgraduate diploma or third-class degree (with at least five years of relevant work experience) may be taken into consideration.
