About The University

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is a tertiary institution established in 1983, but was suspended by the government in 1984, and was later re-established in 2002 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. NOUN Admission Requirements 

The university’s admission process is flexible, and the admission requirements vary depending on the level of study and program of choice. Here are the general admission requirements for NOUN:

Undergraduate Programs:

  • Candidates must possess a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, at not more than two sittings.
  • Direct Entry candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields from recognized institutions.
  • Candidates with International Baccalaureate, Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) or Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) certificate can also apply for direct entry admission.

Postgraduate Programs:

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
  • Candidates with HND and a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant fields from recognized institutions can also apply.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, ACMA, and ACIA, among others, are also eligible to apply.

Other Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess the minimum age requirement for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
  • Candidates must provide evidence of National Identification Number (NIN) or NOUN Student Identification Card.

NOUN Hostel Accommodations
